Position Goal:
Provide athletic training outreach services for secondary school(s) and universities in the area.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Care for injuries using therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation techniques.
  2. Evaluate readiness to return to daily activities, and coordinate clearances when necessary.
  3. Provide athletic training outreach and medical care to assigned locations.
  4. Responsible for athletic training special event coverage when scheduled.
  5. Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
  6. Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
  7. Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student-athlete.
  8. File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
  9. Maintain a daily treatment log.
  10. Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
  11. Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  12. Follow Hughston Philosophy principles and Code of Professional Behavior in everyday tasks.
  13. Utilize effective communication skills (written and verbal) when interacting with co-workers, other clinic employees, supervisors, and outside vendors.
  14. Promote Hughston’s role in the community by greeting and interacting with all patients, families, visitors, vendors, and guests in a courteous and respectful manner.
  15. Provide support or relief for other staff as needed.
  16. Demonstrate confidentiality in all aspects to include both patient and non-patient issues.
  17. Reflect Hughston’s values and is sensitive to Hughston’s ethical and compliance principles in daily activities.
  18. Promote resolution of concerns and conflict by routing through the correct mechanism or resolving the situation independently.
  19. Prioritize daily functions and tasks.
  20. Display a willingness to put forth effort in problem solving.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • 2 years' experience as a certified athletic trainer preferred.

Education:

  • Degree in athletic training/sports medicine from CAATE approved institution required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.

Special Qualifications:

  • Current state license in Athletic Training required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • This position requires travel to and from satellite clinics as assigned, so requires a valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record upon hire (MVR will be screened on an annual basis).
