Description

IBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are crucial in a dynamic orthopedic setting, embodying IBJI’s values of patient-centeredness, musculoskeletal expertise, and teamwork. The ATC acts as a bridge among patients, physicians, therapists, and staff, with primary duties including delivering high-quality patient care, covering athletic events, and educating the community on injury prevention. Maintaining professional standards and integrity is essential in all responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Promote excellent patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients about their care plans.
  • Build positive relationships with IBJI physician teams.
  • Coordinate with physicians, staff, and families regarding patient conditions and treatments.
  • Develop rehab and treatment plans aligned with physician recommendations.
  • Refer patients for diagnostics and follow-up, tracking injuries accordingly.
  • Complete daily paperwork and maintain electronic medical records accurately.
  • Participate in IBJI programs such as meetings, mentoring, and community outreach.
  • Manage prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of injuries across age groups.
  • Understand proper body mechanics.
  • Schedule and perform DME brace fittings, educating patients on proper use.
  • Provide medical coverage at outside games and events, including weekends and evenings, scheduled with the Program Coordinator.
  • Respond promptly to voicemails and emails from patients and staff.
  • Attend continuing education to maintain Illinois licensure.
  • Follow HIPAA and OSHA guidelines at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Hold or be eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong rehabilitation skills preferred.
  • Additional manual therapy or sports performance experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred but not required.
  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team leadership capabilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift over 25 pounds.
  • Proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Stand and sit for periods exceeding 30 minutes.
  • Work on a computer for extended periods.
Conduct

ATCs are expected to act courteously, professionally, and positively reflect IBJI. They may serve as representatives of physicians and should exemplify dependability, punctuality, and adherence to policies.

Note: Duties are not exhaustive and may be amended. Compensation varies by location, skills, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401k with matching, wellness programs, and paid time off.

Salary

Starting at $55K-$65K annually, depending on experience.
