Overview

Assesses, evaluates, and treats patients of all ages in the clinical setting. Serves as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for providers, staff, residents, & students.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Performs appropriate physical and/or development assessments.
• Documents evaluations and plans of care, including goals, modifications of treatment plans, and athlete's response to treatment, according to department policy.
• Evaluates and revises plan of care based on changes in patient status and response to treatment.
• Provides emergency care including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Updates knowledge of new Athletic Trainer (ATC) and medical practices to maintain currency of practice, expand knowledge, and improve athlete care.
• Manages daily schedule of clinical care provision.
• Works with administrative and coding teams to ensure proper documentation when acting as a scribe in the ambulatory setting.
• Performs work within Athletic Trainer's scope of practice.

Department Specific Job Functions

• Assesses patient compliance and response to prescribed care plans, including therapeutic outcomes.
• Assesses patient's learning needs regarding functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self-management, and healthcare access.
• Delivers physical care following medical directions and monitors athlete responses.
• Designs and implements care plans.
• Documents evaluations and care plans per department policy.
• Evaluates referred athletes.
• Implements effective treatment methods to meet goals.
• Instructs athletes and family members in treatment, activities, or home care.
• Provides athletic training services to contracted high schools, club events, and junior colleges as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field.

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Athletic Trainer (AT) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• Certified Athletic Trainer - Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment - American Heart Association (AHA).

Salary Range
