Job Summary:

To provide athlete centered medical care, prevention, treatment, and therapeutic rehabilitation of injuries to allow for the least loss of competitive time, while keeping the mental and physical welfare of the athlete as the top priority. This role requires a dynamic mentor with a passion for medicine and athletics, commitment to athletes' safety and health, and the ability to foster a positive environment in the sports medicine clinic and at athletic events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recognition, evaluation, and assessment of athlete injuries and conditions
  • Prevention, maintenance, and immediate care of minor to major injuries
  • Develop and superviseappropriate treatmentand rehabilitation
  • Document and communicate injuries to key stakeholders
  • Determineif an athlete is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice, as guided by the directing/team physician
  • Implement a referral system with the directing/team physician
  • Schedule concussion baseline testing with designated sports, weight certifications with wrestling, and annual pre-participation physicals with directing/team physician
  • Maintain paperwork (physicals, interim questionnaire, etc.) through thedistrict's chosenplatform and accept athletes prior to the first day of season practice
  • Medical documentation within the district’s designated Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Maintain and track inventory of medical supplies and equipment
  • Develop, distribute, practice, and document Emergency Action Plans specific to each athletic venue and sport
  • Organize and communicateclinichours for the fall, winter, and spring seasons to key stakeholders
  • Organize athletic training coverage for all school sanctioned home events

*Key stakeholders: include but not limited to the directing physician, coaching staff, parents, administration, schoolnurseand school faculty.

Qualifications:
  • Preferred minimum 3 years of certified athletic training experience
  • State of Idaho Licensed Athletic Trainer
  • Board of Certification (BOC) Certified
  • Valid Idaho teaching certificate and/or Occupational Specialist Certificate preferred (or ability to achieve)
  • NATAmemberpreferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, NFHS, IHSAA, and WASD policies and regulations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes, coaches, school nurses, teachers, and administrators
  • Must have a valid Idaho driver's license and a vehicle to drive and/or provide own transportation for job related activities
