REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic anatomy, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic exercise, and injury prevention.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in patient care and documentation.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs independently and 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while exercising sound clinical judgment within the Athletic Trainer's scope of practice.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
  • Current Kansas Athletic Trainer licensure (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Previous orthopedic, sports medicine, or physician practice experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexible and punctual with schedule adjustments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates primarily in an outpatient orthopedic clinic and involves direct patient care. The role requires frequent interaction with physicians, advanced practice providers, patients, and clinical staff. The position may require exposure to bodily fluids, biohazardous materials, and infectious diseases. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required as appropriate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, assist patients with mobility, demonstrate therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation techniques, and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds independently and 100 pounds with assistance. Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and hearing ability are essential to perform job functions. Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged standing are required throughout the workday.
