Qualifications

  • Current Athletic Trainer (AT) licensure in the appropriate state.
  • Pass BOC exam.
  • Hold or be able to hold AHA BLS First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide orthopedic and sports medicine patient care including evaluations and rehabilitation.
  • Room patients, obtain medical histories and vital signs, perform musculoskeletal assessments.
  • Assist physicians in clinic and operating room, including first-assisting with orthopedic procedures.
  • Apply casts, splints, braces, orthotics and educate on use.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals and follow-up care; maintain documentation.
  • Support outreach and community wellness initiatives.

Job description

What We Offer

The Athletic Trainer licensed in the appropriate state, acts under the supervision of a physician and must adhere to the Protocols and guidelines as required by the licensing agency. The protocols must be written in collaboration with the supervising physician and reviewed annually. The Athletic Trainer works in the areas of primary care, sports medicine or orthopedic clinical setting, specializing in the delivery of high quality health care for those engaged in physical activity. They also promote Novant Health and the practice through outreach and education for health and wellness in the community.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with half-days every Friday (ending around 12:00-1:00 PM).

What You'll Do
  • Provide exceptional orthopedic and sports medicine patient care, including evaluations, injury assessments, rehabilitation, and patient education.
  • Room patients, obtain medical histories and vital signs, perform musculoskeletal assessments, and assist with treatment planning.
  • Assist physicians in clinic and the operating room, including first-assisting with orthopedic procedures and supporting in-office procedures.
  • Apply casts, splints, braces, orthotics, and other durable medical equipment while educating patients on proper use.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, follow-up care, and maintain accurate patient documentation.
  • Support sports medicine outreach, injury prevention programs, athletic event coverage, and community wellness initiatives.
  • Help maintain clinical supplies, support quality improvement efforts, and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered team focused on delivering an outstanding patient experience.
What We're Looking For

Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Graduate from an accredited athletic training program. Graduate Degree, preferred.

Experience: Minimum of two years of experience, preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096.

Licensure/Certification: Current Athletic Trainer (AT) licensure in the appropriate state with the ability to acquire additional state licenses as required prior to the first day of employment, required. Successfully pass BOC exam, required. Hold or ability to hold AHA BLS First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification, required.

Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Hold or ability to hold AHA BLS First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.

Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred): Hold or ability to hold CSCS, PES, BFR, Dry Needling, or similar certification.
