Job summary

The University of Michigan seeks a licensed Athletic Trainer to join the MedSport Sports Medicine team. The role supports athletic training service agreements and provides direct patient care at MedSport Physical Therapy Clinics.

Daily duties include event coverage with potential evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include collaboration with physicians, therapists, and staff; applying protective bracing; administering modalities and therapies; evaluating injuries; and aiding rehab program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training.
  • Current licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan.
  • This Classification requires Primary Source Verification.
  • Master's degree in athletic training or related health field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • NATA BOC certification in athletic training.
  • Currently holds AHA/BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care with a team approach in conjunction with a physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer and assistive personnel.
  • Apply strapping, bandaging, or bracing designed to prevent or protect athletes against injury.
  • Administer therapeutic techniques and modalities such as ultrasound, electrostimulation, hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, as well as active, passive, and assistive exercises.
  • Perform preliminary evaluations, screen injuries and refer individuals to physicians.
  • Assist in development of rehabilitation programs independently or with other allied health care clinicians.
  • Administer first aid to injured athletes.
  • Assist in development of conditioning programs.
  • Assist in training/education of students who are in the athletic training fellowship/internship program.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training
Current licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan
Primary Source Verification
Master's degree in athletic training or related health field
NATA BOC certification in athletic training
AHA/BLS CPR certification

Job Summary

Basic Function and Responsibility: To recognize, evaluate, screen and treat orthopedic and sport disabilities and injuries; to provide emergency medical care, and to develop or restore function through therapeutic treatments as prescribed or directed by a physician.

We are currently seeking a licensed Athletic Trainer to join our interdisciplinary MedSport Sports Medicine team. This position will support duties as assigned within our athletic training service agreements and will provide direct patient care at one of our MedSport Physical Therapy Clinics. The athletic trainer will be responsible for daily practice and event coverage which will include late evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical Requirement: This position requires extensive standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
