Job summary

New York University seeks an experienced athletic trainer to provide comprehensive care for intercollegiate athletes. Under a physician's supervision, you will evaluate injuries, design treatment and rehabilitation plans, and support return‑to‑play decisions at on‑campus facilities and game venues.

You will collaborate with physical therapists, maintain injury reports, and contribute to injury prevention programs while supporting the athletic training department under the Head Athletic Trainer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related health field.
  • Master's degree in athletic training preferred.
  • 2+ years athletic trainer experience at high school or collegiate level.
  • 3+ years athletic trainer experience at the collegiate level preferred.
  • NATA certification and active First Aid/CPR/AED training required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services including testing, evaluation, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Under physician supervision, work with student athletes on campus and at game venues.

Job description

Position Summary

Provide athletic training support for intercollegiate athletics. Provides athletic training services including testing, evaluation, assignment for training regimens, treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and medical referrals. Under the supervision of a physician, works with student athletes to provide care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses both on campus and at game venues. Provide injury prevention measures such as appliances, braces and devices for control of joint motion and limb protection. Collaborates with physical therapists regarding rehabilitation progress and return-to-play planning of injured athletes. Provides daily injury reports, and reports status and progress of injured athletes to team physicians and coaches. Maintains established safety standards. Provides first aid support. May instruct recreation programs. Works closely with Head Athletic Trainer to manage, plan, and supervise all aspects of the athletic training program, and acts as lead in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer.

Qualifications
  • Required Education: Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent in Athletic Training or other health related (biology, nutrition, physical education).
  • Preferred Education: Master\'s Degree in Athletic Training or other health related field.
  • Required Experience: 2+ years athletic trainer experience at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Preferred Experience: 3+ years athletic trainer experience at the collegiate level.
  • Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) Certification, First Aid and CPR certification, AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) Training. Participation in NATA continuing education programs to maintain certification.
  • Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Conduct research or provide instruction on subject matter related to athletic training or sports medicine. Present as subject matter expert at NATA convention. Accompany injured athletes to hospitals. Travel with athletic teams to be available at sporting events.
Additional Information

In compliance with NYC\'s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate\'s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
