Athletic Trainer – Orthopedic Clinical

Nemours Children’s Health is seeking an Athletic Trainer to join our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine teams in Malvern, PA. The Clinical Athletic Trainer will provide collaborative care for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients requiring diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of Orthopedic and Sports Medicine conditions.

Direct Patient Care Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in caring for all pediatric, adolescent, and young adult sports‑medicine and orthopedic patients.
• Perform problem‑focused musculoskeletal examinations under provider guidance.
• Coordinate patient flow, collect intake data, and perform real‑time charting during provider visits.
• Maintain patient confidentiality regarding conversations, medical records, and treatment plans.
• Engage in medical precautions for each patient and refer appropriately to the health‑care team.
• Assist physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with clinical and administrative duties, including physical support when needed.
• Deliver education to parents, guardians, and other personnel on patient conditions and care plans; serve as liaison with school ATC staff or coaches post‑discharge.
• Provide ongoing general education and information to personnel working with the Department of Orthopedics.
• Supervise volunteers and students in associated program areas.
• Develop and implement exercise programs tailored to patient goals, incorporating new techniques and modalities as appropriate.
• Offer on‑field and sideline coverage for pediatric sporting events.
• Perform DME/cast application, removal, and suture removal as needed.
• Perform phone triage, appointment check‑in/out, scheduling, and related administrative tasks as directed by the manager or assigned physician.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• BOC ATC Certification and eligibility for Delaware State Athletic Training License.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS).
• One to three years of experience in athletic training.
