  • Maintain confidential medical records and documentation.
  • Maintain athletic training supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.

Athletic Trainer

Columbus Grove Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive sports medicine services for student-athletes in grades 7–12. The Athletic Trainer will work with student-athletes, coaches, families, school administration, and healthcare providers to promote safety, injury prevention, and successful participation in athletics.

Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary: Will be commensurate with experience
Start Date: January 1, 2027

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training services for grades 7–12, including practices, competitions, and tournaments.
  • Evaluate, manage, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide emergency care and maintain appropriate emergency action plans.
  • Develop and monitor injury-prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-participation programs.
  • Coordinate care and communicate with physicians, physical therapists, parents/guardians, coaches, and school personnel.
  • Manage concussion evaluation and return-to-play protocols in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records and documentation.
  • Maintain athletic training supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.
  • Educate student-athletes and coaches on injury prevention, hydration, heat illness, concussion awareness, and overall sports safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or school administration.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
  • Appropriate Ohio licensure/certification to practice athletic training.
  • Current CPR/AED and first-aid certification.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescents, coaches, families, healthcare providers, and school personnel.
Preferred
  • Previous secondary-school athletic training experience.
  • Experience with concussion management, rehabilitation, and emergency action planning.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during athletic seasons.
