Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking an athletic trainer to provide quality care for student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, with referrals to physicians as needed. You will attend home games, manage clinics on site, and assist in injury prevention programs.

You will also coordinate physicals, maintain logs, prepare reports, and support coaching staff with care and return-to-play decisions in a school athletic program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or athletic program.
  • Illinois athletic trainer licensure.
  • National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.
  • Ability to travel to assigned work locations.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality comprehensive care for student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses, and assist with injury rehabilitation.
  • Attend all home athletic contests to provide training services before, during, and after events for home and visiting teams.
  • Conduct hours of service to student-athletes prior to, during, and following practices.
  • Arrange required physicals for student-athletes and teams at on-site health clinic.
  • Maintain and submit reports related to athletic injuries, treatment, and care.
  • Maintain a daily treatment log and communicate with athletic/coaching staff.

Job description

  • Provide quality comprehensive care for student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses, and assist with injury rehabilitation using established protocols for injury/illness referral, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play. The athletic trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physician referrals and/or follow-ups.
  • Attend all home athletic contests as required for the purpose of providing training services prior to, during, and after events and games for both home and visiting teams.
  • Conduct hours, providing services to student-athletes prior to, during, and following practices.
  • Arrange (when needed) physicals for student-athletes and teams at on site health clinic.
  • Maintain and submit all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries, treatment, and care.
  • Maintain a daily treatment log.
  • Communicate regularly with athletic/coaching staff regarding care and treatment of injuries.
  • Provide a comprehensive Concussion Protocol.
  • Aid the coaching staff in the construction and implementation of injury prevention programs, as well as, evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods.
  • Assist in the fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads, or braces.
  • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  • Oversee and maintain athletic trainers’ room and equipment.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic trainer room and provide the Athletic Director with an annual request for supplies and equipment needed.
  • Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
