Job summary

Delaware Technical Community College is seeking an assistant to support the athletic coach and help ensure student-athlete academic success. The role involves recruiting prospective athletes, coordinating practice plans, and supporting game-day operations.

The incumbent collaborates with coaches, communicates effectively with stakeholders, and may serve as a temporary lead for safety and event logistics as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules, strategies, and techniques of the applicable sport.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and direct a sports program/athletic team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supporting student-athlete academic success by ensuring progress.
• Maintain relations with local high school coaches to aid recruitment.
• Collaborate with coaches to plan and direct the athletic team and game strategy.
• Model leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork, and citizenship.
• Verify athlete eligibility prior to competition across semesters.
• In absence of head coach, act as the responsible party for safety and conduct.
• Assist in marketing and PR by sharing results and student-athlete stories.
• Oversee maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Participate in coaching meetings and professional development.
• Assist head coach in scheduling games, events, and transportation.
• Perform other related duties as required.
