Job SummaryParadise Valley Community College is seeking an Athletic Head Coach who serves as the women's and men's Track & Field Coach and Coordinator of Cross Country. Duties include (but not limited to): administers and coordinates all aspects of Track & Field and Cross Country programs, including; coaching, recruiting, academic success and development of student-athletes, budget management, athletic equipment/facilities management, schedule and event management, fundraising, study hall monitoring, mentoring, travel coordination, monitoring and teaching sportsmanship, life skills, discipline enforcement, and program administration. Assists in coordinating the academic success program for Athletics Department as a whole. Serve in support of the Athletics Department in a capacity as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Note: This is a non-classified, at-will position. As an at-will employee, either you or Paradise Valley Community College may terminate employment without cause.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to a variety of weather conditions, for short or long durations, including rain, wind, dust, cold temperatures and extreme desert heat. Work may include moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, gasses, blood or other body fluids); frequent exposure to crowd conditions, distressed persons, persons exhibiting menacing behavior, and loud and intense noise. This position may stand for extended periods of time.
Travel and Work Schedule: Depending on the season and program schedules, local or out-of-state travel, including overnight stays, is required to perform the essential duties of this position. Some assignments may have oversight of activities that can occur during non-standard work hours, or during/preceding games. The ability to work evening hours, weekends, or otherwise non-standard hours is required to perform the essential duties of this position.
Essential Functions40% Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assistant coaching staffs for Track & Field and Cross Country; plans, manages, and implements coaching strategy and practice training sessions for student-athletes in the Track & Field program in accordance with established rules and regulations; organizes, provides for, and oversees the recruitment of prospective student-athletes including the evaluation of student-athletes in areas of academics, athletic ability and character; provides and oversees individual and group coaching and instruction for meet preparation and coaching; coordinates, facilitates and implements athletic development training and meet strategies related to assigned area; plans and manages the overall development of the student-athlete including academic success, character building, and team discipline; academic support and academic leadership for all student-athletes.
40% Oversees and ensures that Track & Field and Cross Country students and programs comply with National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA), Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and Arizona Community College Athletics Association (ACCAC) regulations, policies, and procedures; plans and administers assigned budgets, monitors Track & Field and Cross Country program expenditures and budget compliance; performs other duties as assigned; coordinates all aspects of a Cross Country season/meets and a Track & Field season/meets (ex: meet schedules, secure officials for the events, timing system, event management, invoicing, volunteers, etc.).
15% Plans and implements athletic promotional programs and related fundraising efforts. Attends athletics department meetings, orientations, etc.
5% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education, sports management, sports coaching, kinesiology, recreation therapy, athletic training, sport psychology, or another field related to athletics or sports, management, communications, health, coaching, or a similar discipline, and four (4) years of experience as an athletic coach, preferably at the college level, which includes recruiting experience and two (2) years of senior level or lead experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Special Requirements
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver License (Class D) may be required for some assignments
- CPR/AED certification may be required to be obtained and maintained on an annual basis
Desired Qualifications
- Four or more years/seasons of coaching Track & Field and/or Cross Country as a head coach or assistant coach in an educational setting. (Ex: four or more years/seasons as a head or assistant Track & Field coach and/or four or more years/seasons as a head or assistant Cross-Country coach)
- Four or more years/seasons experience in recruiting student-athletes at the collegiate level
- Experience and knowledge of the student-athlete National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) eligibility process, and understanding of NJCAA, Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and Arizona Community College Athletics Association (ACCAC) regulations, policies, and procedures
- Experience in organizing academic retention and completion efforts for student-athletes
- Four or more years/seasons experience in coordinating all aspects of a Track & Field schedule/meets and a Cross Country schedule/meets (ex: coordinate season schedules, coordinate location if off campus, coordinate entry fee processing, coordinate meet and event schedules, secure officials, secure a timing system professional, event management, invoicing, volunteers, etc.)

- Master's Degree
