Job summary

The Wilmette Park District is seeking an Athletic Field Supervisor to oversee field rentals and ensure safe, clean facilities for patrons. This PT-3 position involves coordinating rental details with the Maintenance Supervisor, preparing equipment, opening bathrooms, turning on lights, and ensuring a positive, engaging environment during events.

Responsibilities include completing incident reports, interacting with rental groups, and supporting the district's safety and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience supervising field rentals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.

SUMMARY

The Athletic Field Supervisor will monitor fields rented by outside groups and is responsible for equipment setup and teardown. This is a PT-3 position with benefits listed below.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

None

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor on rental details, including rental time, rental locations, rental needs, and equipment required for the rental
  • Open bathrooms as needed and ensure they are supplied and cleaned prior to patron use
  • Turn on lights at Howard Park as needed
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding arrival time, depending on rental needs
  • Create a safe, engaging environment through the framework of field rentals
  • Set up and take down any equipment, buildings, and bathrooms needed for the rental
  • Complete accident/incident reports in their entirety and submit them to the direct supervisor
  • Interact positively with rental groups
  • Actively uphold and contribute to the Wilmette Park District Comprehensive and Strategic Plan, including the Guiding Principles and Strategic Priorities.
  • Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents.
  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the department.
  • Become familiar with and follow safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation procedures.
  • Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to immediate supervisor and Human Resources and Risk Manager.
  • Attend and participate in required safety trainings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • At least one year of experience supervising field rentals
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents finished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong organization and communication skills, with attention to detail and problem-solving.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to necessary team members and contractors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid Illinois driver's license
  • Must possess CPR/First Aid certificates within three months of hiring, provided by the Park District.
  • Complete annual District trainings including, but not limited to, Sexual Harassment Training and Avoiding Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens annually and Mandated Reporter every three years.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
HOURS

Normal working hours are primarily scheduled for Friday evenings and for the day on Saturdays and Sundays. Specific hours may vary based on field rentals and scheduled activities. General hours of duty will be approved by the Maintenance Supervisor.
