Job summary

HES is seeking a Grounds/Sports Fields Manager to oversee daily maintenance, safety, and staff for athletic fields within the District. You will manage mowing, irrigation, field repairs, and inspections to keep fields playable and compliant.

The role requires a degree in Horticulture or related field with supervisory experience, or 10 years in field management with leadership duties. You will supervise crews, set schedules, monitor budgets, and coordinate with client staff for events.

Qualifications

• Degree in Horticulture or related field with 5+ years supervisory experience, or 10+ years in athletic field management with 5+ years supervisory.
• Virginia Pesticide License in Turf or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Virginia Commercial Fertilizer Applicator License or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily athletic field maintenance operations including mowing, irrigation maintenance, field repairs, and inspections.
• Supervise crew leaders and hourly employees, including scheduling and evaluations.
• Monitor labor hours, material purchases, and grounds maintenance budgets.
• Coordinate with client staff regarding field operations and events.
• Maintain safety documentation and SDS records in compliance with regulations.
