Job summary

Louisiana State University (LSU) is seeking a Horticultural Attendant to maintain landscaping, athletic fields and facilities for the LSU Athletic Department. The role includes operating mowing and grounds equipment, assisting with event setup, cleaning facilities, and performing planting, fertilization and irrigation tasks.

A valid driver's license is required, and some tasks involve heavy lifting. Minimum qualifications include one year of groundskeeping experience or six semester hours in

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping.
• Six semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.

Responsibilities

• Operate mowing and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Assist in setup of athletic events (football, baseball, softball, soccer, track).
• Clean athletic fields and stadiums; litter pick up; bathrooms and locker rooms cleaning.
• Operate power hand tools and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Assist in marking athletic fields for games and events.
• Perform planting, sodding, pruning, fertilization, irrigation and drainage tasks.
• Assist supervisor and departments with various tasks.
• Train laborers and student workers as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
