Job summary

Emory University is seeking a groundskeeper to maintain athletic fields and care for turf areas on campus. You will operate reel mowers, tractors, spray units and loaders, and perform related grounds tasks with attention to safety and regulations.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 2 years of equipment operation, turf care knowledge, a valid GA driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Category 24 pesticide license within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience operating multi-gang reel mowers or related equipment.
• Knowledge of basic turf care: fertilization, aeration, mowing and pest control.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Category 24 Pesticide License or ability to obtain within six months.
• May require lifting up to 50 pounds and ability to bend, stoop and twist.

Responsibilities

• Maintains athletic fields for various sports.
• Operates a reel mower, tractor, power-spray unit and skid steer loader.
• Uses other grounds equipment such as trimmers, edgers and backpack and street blowers.
• Applies fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides to turf areas.
• Adheres to OSHA standards and other regulations when working with hazardous chemicals and equipment.
• Uses PPE as required.
• May drive utility vehicles to and from work sites.
• Performs related responsibilities as required.
