Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission - PGC Parks and Recreation is seeking a Fitness Center Assistant Manager for the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex (Sportsplex) to support facility operations and program delivery. You will assist in planning, budgeting, supervision, training, and event coordination to ensure a safe, welcoming fitness environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management, Facility Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field.
• One year of professional experience in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or related area.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, totaling five years.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, supervision & evaluation of Fitness Center staff including Group Exercise Instructors, Personal Trainers, Floor and Customer Service staff.
• Provide training opportunities for Fitness Center staff.
• Oversee and monitor timekeeping processes, evaluations, and certifications.
• Oversee staff uniforms distribution and inventory.
• Supervise the Customer Service Desk staff in membership sales and member greeting.
• Oversee group fitness scheduling, promotion and development of classes.
• Coordinate events to promote memberships and programs.
• Prepare monthly statistics, maintenance and purchasing logs.
• Assist in budgeting and monitoring expenses and revenues.
• Coordinate with Finance on daily collection of funds and asset tracking.
• Prepare correspondence for Fitness Center Manager and Division Chief.
• Respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints, and assist with operational needs.
