Job summary

The University of Chicago’s Athletics & Recreation department seeks an Athletic Aide I to maintain and set up athletic facilities and equipment for activities and events. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Responsibilities include setting up/taking down equipment, maintaining fields and courts, cleaning fitness gear, distributing towels and cleaning supplies, and assisting with deliveries. A high school diploma and a valid Illinois driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and write; follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be capable of communicating effectively with supervisor, students, staff, faculty, and the public.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certifications: Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform strenuous activity.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and takes down for indoor and outdoor activities and events.
  • Measures and paints field lines on outdoor fields and tapes court lines indoors.
  • Maintains infield and track areas; drags, rakes, waters, and maintains equipment.
  • Assembles and maintains equipment and backboards; reports repair needs.
  • Operates department vehicles; performs routine vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Cleans fitness equipment and manages towels and cleaning supplies.
  • Assists with deliveries, moving items, and errands; maintains storage areas.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
