Job summary

Sacred Heart University seeks an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications to cover assigned varsity programs, including men’s basketball. You’ll serve as the liaison among media, student-athletes, and coaches, coordinating publicity, stats, and media information.

You will work with ESPN+ productions, manage content for YouTube and social media, maintain the department site, and guide student staff. Requires strong writing and Adobe skills with a background in athletics communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, sports management, or related field.
• 4-5 years of college or professional athletic experience in a communications role.
• Strong oral and writing skills; proficiency with desktop publishing tools (InDesign, Photoshop).
• Experience with in-game statistics software (Genius & StatCrew) and new media apps (Instagram, Twitter).
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop).
• Advanced proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
• Knowledge of graphics, photography and video editing.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for assigned programs, including men’s basketball.
• Coordinate publicity efforts: stats, media information, and promoting student-athletes and coaches for awards.
• Collaborate with production on ESPN+ broadcasts and content for YouTube and social media.
• Maintain the athletics website with stories, stats, and archives across multiple sections.
• Assist in hiring and supervising work-study students and interns.
• Lead social media strategy and campaigns to boost publicity and attendance.
• Support as a member of stat crews, public address announcer, etc.
• Help maintain historical records and alumni content for publications.
• Integrate creative direction within Communications and Marketing to align materials.
• Supervise Communications Game Day Staff and other duties as assigned.
