Job summary

Mesa Public Schools seeks an Athletic Coach to lead, train and mentor student‑athletes in a specific sport. The coach develops game plans, fosters teamwork, discipline and personal growth while ensuring practices, games and activities align with school policies and health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Current IVP fingerprint card.
  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate.
  • NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate.
  • Experience as a player at high school or college level preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience preferred.
  • Understanding of sports rules, strategies, techniques, equipment and safety.

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for leading, training, and mentoring student‑athletes in a specific sport. The coach develops strategies to improve athletic performance while fostering teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. They ensure that all practices, games and activities align with school policies and promote health and safety of students.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

Education:

  • A high school or GED is preferred
  • Current IVP fingerprint card
  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
  • NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate

Experience:

  • Background as a player in the sport, either at the high school or collegiate level is preferred
  • Previous experience as an assistant or head coach at any level is preferred
  • Understanding of the sports rules, strategies, techniques, equipment, safety protocols and best practices
