Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking an Athletic Coach at Mesa High School to lead, train and mentor student-athletes in a specific sport. You'll design practices, develop game plans, and foster teamwork, discipline and academic balance while ensuring health and safety compliance with school policies.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED. IVP fingerprint clearance is required.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate and NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate required.
• Background as a player at HS or college is preferred; prior coaching experience is a plus.

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for leading, training, and mentoring student-athletes in a specific sport. The coach develops strategies to improve athletic performance while fostering teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. They ensure that all practices, games and activities align with school policies and promote health and safety of students.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

Education:

• A high school or GED is preferred
• Current IVP fingerprint card
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
• NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate

Experience:

• Background as a player in the sport, either at the high school or collegiate level is preferred
• Previous experience as an assistant or head coach at any level is preferred
• Understanding of the sports rules, strategies, techniques, equipment, safety protocols and best practices
