MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS COACH DUTIES

Minneapolis Public Schools Coaches are teachers of athletic activities. Their duties include:

1. Monitoring and supporting athletes' academic progress and eligibility.
2. Providing instruction and supervision to ensure skill improvement.
3. Abiding by game rules and supporting policies.
4. Maintaining an up-to-date list of team members.
5. Ensuring a safe environment.
6. Exhibiting respectful conduct and fostering sportsmanship.
7. Planning and supervising practices, including conditioning.
8. Practicing injury prevention and care.
9. Attending rules meetings and conducting preseason meetings with parents and athletes.
10. Supporting eligibility rules and assisting in record-keeping.
11. Assisting with scheduling and transportation.
12. Establishing and communicating team policies and expectations.
13. Promoting multicultural, gender fair, and inclusive practices for students with disabilities.
14. Supervising athletes during practices, games, and transportation, ensuring safety and proper procedures.
