Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to act as a liaison between the public/participants and athletic staff as well as to perform general maintenance work involving athletic facilities and program setup as part of the process to provide athletic programs.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and set-up athletic fields, recreational facilities, and related facilities for scheduled events. Including unlocking facilities, turning on lights and scoreboards, turning off lights and scoreboards and securing all facilities at the conclusion of events.
- Groom baseball/softball fields and recreational facilities as needed or directed.
- Repair or replace pitching rubbers, pitching mounds, and bases.
- Maintain infield areas by removing rocks, shifting or adding dirt, filling low areas, removing excess water, applying infield conditioner, and raking infields as needed or directed.
- Dispose of litter from facilities and grounds and notify maintenance staff for litter removal as warranted.
- Monitor and inspect park facilities to identify problems, needed repairs, or other situations requiring attention such as vandalism, inoperative lighting, or broken sprinkler heads. Report problem situations to supervisor.
- Operate a variety of hand tools associated with projects and work activities, which may include chalk machine, paint machine, rake, base anchor tool, metal detector, hammer, broom, mop, and/or various janitorial tools.
Additional Functions
- Safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.
- Capable of clerical work, simple math, and have some computer skills.
- Wear provided staff clothing to work site.
- Willing to work outdoors/indoors, flexible hours, nights, and weekends.
- Capable of bending, stooping, and lifting 50 lbs.
- Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older with the ability to perform all essential position functions.
- Effective communication with the public and co-workers.
- Neatly groomed and willing to wear and maintain county-issued clothing.
- Willing to work in a variety of weather conditions; present and punctual on all scheduled days.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Personal Leave Accrual
- 0-4 Years: 20 days per year (6.16 hours per pay period)
- 5-14 Years: 25 days per year (7.70 hours per pay period)
- 15+ Years: 30 days per year (9.24 hours per pay period)
Observed Holidays include New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving (2), and Christmas (2).

Vision Insurance
The vision plan offered by Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is administered by Aetna and will offer office visit copays for exams, as well as copays for lenses, frames, and contacts.
Basic Life & AD&D Insurance
The Board provides term life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) protection for each full‑time employee. This is a County‑paid benefit.
Disability Insurance – Short Term and Long Term
- Short Term Disability: 60% of weekly earnings up to $1,000.00 a week.
- Long Term Disability: 60% of monthly earnings up to $5,000.00 a month.
Retirement Plan (401K)
Fully vested at five years of employment – 20% graduated vesting annually. Eligible to begin contributions immediately upon hire.
Matching Schedule:
- 6 months through 1 year: County matches contributions dollar for dollar up to 5% of pay.
- Years 1-5: County “seeds” 5% of pay and matches 100% of employee contributions up to 5% of pay.
- Years 5-10: County continues “seed” contribution of 5% of pay, matches 100% of employee contributions up to 5%, then adds a 50% match up to the next 5%.
- After 10 years: County matches 100% on first 5% and 50% on next 5% and automatic contribution increases to 7.5% of pay.
