Job summary

St. Cloud School District 742 is seeking an extracurricular assistant coach to provide leadership and instruction to student athletes. The role partners with the head coach to set program goals and ensure the health and welfare of players.

Applicants should have prior playing and coaching experience at the college or high school level, demonstrate high energy, and model strong character. This is an after-school position with variable hours based on program needs.

Qualifications

• Prior playing and coaching experience at the collegiate and/or high school level.
• Proven experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior.
• Positive, high energy, and committed.
• Firm understanding of, and proven support for, education-based interscholastic athletics.
• Partners well with parents, staff, community leaders, etc.
• View success not just as winning, but as helping teams and its members reach defined goals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the training, instruction, and conditioning of athletes with head and assistant coaches.
• Communicates with head coach regarding team questions and concerns.
• Develops and organizes effective practices for athletes that teach skills needed to compete in our conference.
• Demonstrates good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to codes and guidelines.
• Assists head coach with equipment distribution and collection.
• Participates in off-season clinics, camps and program activities as directed by the head coach.
• Adheres to district and league rules and safety protocols.
