Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a dedicated school bus driver to transport students to and from activities, with evening and weekend shifts and travel as needed. You will perform daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections, assist students boarding and exiting, and ensure a clean, safe bus environment.

Valid Virginia CDL(B) with Passenger/School Bus endorsements and VDOE training are required; in-house training is provided at no cost.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Virginia Class B CDL with Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake endorsements.
• Must complete the VDOE School Bus Driver training.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus in compliance with all policies and regulations.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely.
• Complete daily pre-trip, post-trip, and defect reports.
• Finish all required trip reports and forms.
• Clean the interior and exterior of the bus for safety and cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

General Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing safe transportation of students to and from school activities, including sporting events, practices, competitions, and tournaments. This position will require working on evenings and weekends, and will involve both in-state and out-of-state travel. The driver will be required to perform a daily pre-trip and post-trip inspection, and will be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for students.

Education and Experience:

Requires a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the above knowledge, skill, and abilities. Requires a valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's license with the Passenger, School Bus, and Air Brake endorsements. The candidate will also need to complete the VDOE School Bus Driver training program. All training and licensing can be provided in-house at no cost.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for driving a school bus in accordance with all local, State, and Federal policies and regulations


• Assists students with boarding and exiting the bus safely


• Responsible for the completion of daily pre-trip, post-trip, and vehicle defect reports.


• Responsible for completing all required reports and forms at the conclusion of each trip


• Cleans the interior and exterior of the bus to ensure safe operation and appropriate conditions for students.


• Other duties as assigned
