Job description

We are seeking an experienced ATE Technician to support the testing, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft avionics, instruments, electrical accessories, lighting, and related electronic components within our FAA-certificated repair station. This is a hands-on bench role for someone who enjoys fault isolation, understands how electronic systems behave, and can confidently interpret test results rather than simply run a test sequence. The strongest candidate will be able to determine whether a failure is within the unit under test, the test fixture or cabling, or the test system itself and then work through the issue methodically with clear documentation and follow-through.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Special Test Equipment (STE), test adapters, fixtures, cables, and related bench equipment.
  • Perform preliminary testing, alignments, functional checks, fault isolation, repair verification, and post-repair testing of electronic and electro-mechanical aircraft components.
  • Interpret component maintenance manuals, production illustrations, schematics, wiring diagrams, test specifications, symbols, flag notes, and other approved technical data.
  • Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal or function generators, frequency counters, logic or data analyzers, circuit testers, and other applicable test equipment.
  • Diagnose electronic circuit and system faults, including analog and digital signal paths, power supplies, relays, connectors, wiring, sensors, and printed circuit board components.
  • Distinguish product failures from test-station, fixture, cable, software-sequence, or equipment issues to reduce false failures and unnecessary downtime.
  • Build, repair, or modify test cables, interface adapters, wiring, fixtures, and electronic assemblies as authorized, including soldering wires and printed circuit boards.
  • Document test results, discrepancies, troubleshooting steps, repairs, equipment concerns, and final findings accurately in the applicable work-order and quality records.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, and Quality to resolve complex test issues, improve test reliability, and identify recurring product or equipment concerns.
  • Maintain an organized, ESD-controlled, and safe work area; verify equipment is within calibration and report damaged or unreliable equipment promptly.
  • Follow FAA Part 145 requirements, approved technical data, company procedures, quality-system requirements, and all applicable safety standards.
Qualifications
  • At least three years of hands‑on electronics, avionics, test, repair, or troubleshooting experience; equivalent military or formal technical training may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently read schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and test instructions.
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic test equipment and a methodical approach to fault isolation.
  • Hands‑on soldering experience with wires, connectors, and printed circuit boards, along with basic electro‑mechanical assembly skills.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, electronic components, signal tracing, and circuit-board-level troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, organization, and the ability to work independently without losing communication with the team.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn work-order systems, technical databases, and computer-controlled test applications.
Preferred Experience
  • ATE or STE troubleshooting within an FAA repair station, aerospace manufacturing, defense, military aviation, or another regulated electronics environment.
  • Component-level avionics or aircraft instrument repair and testing.
  • Experience identifying whether a fault is caused by the unit under test versus the test station, fixture, cabling, or interface.
  • Experience fabricating or repairing harnesses, test cables, adapters, fixtures, or bench-test interfaces.
  • Current or prior soldering, wiring, or electronics-workmanship certification.
  • Familiarity with FAA repair-station documentation, quality controls, ESD practices, and calibrated-equipment requirements.
