Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated ATC Technician (Wayside ATC) to join our Honolulu Rail Project team. The role is based in Pearl City, HI. Your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are encouraged.

Accountabilities
  1. Perform routine, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication, and proper maintenance on Signaling and Telecommunication systems, following manuals and diagrams.
  2. Observe system components in operation to detect potential failures and identify causes of malfunctions.
  3. Support troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and resolution to assist field technicians.
  4. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using a computerized system.
  5. Analyze log files to troubleshoot complex issues and recommend corrective actions.
  6. Drive work vehicles during emergencies and scheduled duties.
  7. Support spare parts management and repair cycles.
  8. Prepare system performance and maintenance reports.
  9. Develop work blocks and job hazard analyses for planned work.
  10. Conduct job and safety briefings as required.
  11. Follow instructions from Department Manager and System Engineer.
  12. Work in close proximity to the third rail, often requiring Red Tag, LOTOs, and hot stick applications.
  13. Ensure maintenance records are collected and monitored for performance.
  14. Verify conformance to technical specifications and operational tolerances.
  15. Ensure availability of materials, tools, and equipment in good condition.
  16. Identify failure trends early to prevent fleet downtime.
  17. Download and analyze logs and dump files from equipment.
  18. Perform related duties as needed.
  19. Execute maintenance tasks in compliance with safety policies and regulations.
  20. Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  21. Perform health checks before vehicles are put into service.
  22. Implement first-line response safety standards.
  23. Work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  24. Perform cross-functional duties on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, depending on training and qualification.
Required Education and Skills
  • Knowledge of ATC Systems and equipment.
  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 1-3 years' experience in electronic equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to use specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Understanding of safety rules regarding lock-out protection and traffic safety.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
  • 2 years' experience with ATC equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.

Bargaining Unit: IBEW Local 1186

Starting pay: $27.54/hr
