The Federal Aviation Administration in the Department of Transportation seeks an Air Traffic Control Specialist (Staff Support Specialist - MSS1) to provide tactical, strategic and administrative support across multiple program areas at terminal facilities.

The role requires deep ATC knowledge, the ability to analyze and develop new methods and procedures, and clear communication with diverse audiences. Some travel may be required; hardware/software experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical, strategic and administrative support across multiple program areas such as training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedures, plans and programs, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, safety management system and safety reporting.
  • Apply knowledge of the ATC field to analysis, evaluation and development of new methods, studies, approaches and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly to varied audiences and tailor messages appropriately.
  • Perform daily functions related to maintaining and improving operational material and resources within assigned areas of specialty.
  • Collaborate freely with other facilities and staff, and provide feedback and consult with other Staff Support Specialists.
  • Plan, design and complete work independently; results are technically authoritative and evaluated by effectiveness of programs.
