Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining and improving plant performance. This is typically a non-shift position, although work outside normal hours may be required. The Performance Technician will perform mechanical, instrument, and electrical maintenance, as detailed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Manipulate air separation controls to meet product specifications and production requirements.
  2. Adjust plant control variables, monitor, and manage process equipment parameters to meet production goals.
  3. Develop knowledge of air separation theory and related equipment; understand water chemistry to ensure proper cooling tower operations.
  4. Troubleshoot, evaluate process upsets, and take corrective actions.
  5. Maintain Qualified Electrical Worker certification.
  6. Perform maintenance on compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other equipment.
  7. Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals, including process and instrument diagrams.
  8. Participate in updating work instructions for start-up and operational procedures.
  9. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipment performance, and perform routine calibration and maintenance of analytical test equipment.
  10. Maintain safety standards and eliminate hazards.
  11. Maintain production and distribution records to comply with FDA, DPA, OSHA, ISO, and other standards.
  12. Prepare QA documents and transcribe data from process databases for reporting.
  13. Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and other departments.
  14. Review and release medical-grade products per FDA regulations.
  15. Troubleshoot operational issues and assist with plant start-up/shutdown procedures.
  16. Optimize plant performance through data tracking and implementing best practices.
  17. Collaborate with supporting groups for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
EDUCATION

High School diploma, Technical School, or related industrial experience.

EXPERIENCE

1-3 years in compressors, pumps, valves, expanders, and electrical testing equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Basic computer skills.
  • On-call availability for plant needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and a clean driving record.
  • Understanding of safety practices, air separation principles, and equipment such as compressors, pumps, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting and testing equipment like DVM, megger, and calibrators.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent standing, movement, and exertion; occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.; repetitive motions and communication tasks. Work involves stationary positions, reaching, handling, and environmental conditions typical of industrial settings.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 10% travel for scheduled training.
