JOB SUMMARY - ASU PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN
Responsible for maintaining and improving plant performance. This is typically a non-shift position, although work outside normal hours may be required. The technician will perform mechanical, instrument, and electrical maintenance. See skill set below.
Essential Functions
- Manipulate air separation controls to meet product specifications and production requirements.
- Adjust plant control variables, monitor, and manage process equipment parameters to meet production goals.
- Acquire knowledge of air separation theory and related equipment; understand plant water chemistry for cooling tower operations.
- Develop troubleshooting skills to evaluate process upsets and take corrective actions.
- Maintain Qualified Electrical Worker certification.
- Perform maintenance on compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, and other equipment as required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals, including Process & Instrument Drawings.
- Participate in updating work instructions for start-up and operational procedures.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipment performance, and perform calibration and maintenance of analytical equipment, maintaining records.
- Ensure safety in all work areas, eliminating hazards.
- Maintain production and distribution records to meet FDA, DPA, OSHA, ISO, and internal standards.
- Prepare QA documentation to certify product quality and transfer process data for reporting.
- Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and other departments.
- Review and release medical-grade products per FDA regulations.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and alarms, assist in plant start-up/shutdown, and optimize performance using data tracking.
- Implement productivity ideas and best practices to control costs.
- Collaborate with supporting groups for troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
High School diploma, Technical School, or relevant industrial experience required.
Work Experience
1-3 years preferred, with experience in compressors, pumps, valves, expanders, and electrical testing equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic computer skills.
- On-call availability for plant needs.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, air separation principles, and electrical systems.
- Skills in troubleshooting electrical and process equipment, including test instruments.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Includes occasional standing, moving, lifting, and other physical activities as detailed, with frequent communication and occasional repetitive motions.
Travel Requirements
Approximately 10% travel for scheduled training.
