Job description

JOB TITLE - ASU Maintenance Technician salary range $32.00 to $38.00 per hour

The ASU Maintenance Technician is responsible forensuring the proper predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance ofmechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, structural and piping systems is performedas necessary to achieve the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the airseparation plants. The Maintenance Technician may also be required to performthe duties of a Plant Operator as needed to cover vacations, sick time, etc. This position reports directly to the ASU PlantManager.

Essential Function
  • Perform equipment inspections and preventativemaintenance (PM) activities, including analysis of operational data, tomaintain equipment in optimum condition.
  • Implement or oversee the corrective maintenance(repair/replacement) of all process equipment.
  • Trouble shoot and evaluate equipmentmalfunctions. Coordinate with plant management to determine andimplement proper corrective action.
  • Utilize and assist with the administration of theCompany CMMS (MAPS) to schedule and document all preventative and correctivemaintenance tasks.
  • Keep all shops and areas where work is being performedin a clean and orderly condition utilizing 5S principles.
  • Adhere to all Safety, Health and Environmental policiesand procedures. Be Safety Conscious at all times and practice InterdependentBehavior.
  • Communicate with contractors and vendors to solicitquotes, order parts, and coordinate work to be performed by them.
  • Assist with the research, selection and negotiation ofpurchases for suitable plant equipment.
  • Read and interpret process diagrams, wiring schematics,technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Travel to assist with maintenance activities at otherCompany locations when needed.
  • Be on-call as required. Work nights and weekends whennecessary.
  • Perform routine calibration of analytical testequipment and document properly.
  • Prepare and maintain Company production and qualityrecords to conform to regulations of the FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO Quality Systemsand any other governing bodies as required.
  • Monitor and adjust air separation plant processcontrols to meet product specifications and production goals.
  • Assist with startups and shutdowns of the plants in asafe manner as directed by plant management due to operating conditions andbusiness needs.
  • Complete all required training as directed in a timemanner.
  • Perform cooling water treatment testing, documentresults and make adjustments to water chemistry controls as necessary tooptimize.
  • Participate in the maintenance and updating of plantand equipment work instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

High School Diploma Req

Work Experience
  • 1-3 years Technical Degree or equivalent industry experience Required
  • 4-6 years maintenance experience within a manufacturingenvironment Required
  • Experience with compressors (centrifugal,reciprocating, screw), pumps, valves and expanders Preferred
  • Experience with the implementation and administrationof Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in the safe operation of general hand andpower tools. Welding skills a plus
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuringinstruments including micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges, dial indicatorsand torque wrenches
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic pipe fittingskills
  • Ability to read and interpret process diagrams, wiringschematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals. Ability to utilizethese skills to trouble shoot and evaluate equipment malfunctions anddetermine appropriate corrective action
  • Basic knowledge of electricity, motors and electricalsystems
  • The ability to use a digital multimeter introubleshooting low voltage systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office includingOutlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
