Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Astronomy. The role supports credit coursework at Albemarle locations and the Giuseppe Center, with primary face-to-face instruction and possible remote offerings. Appointments are made on a course-by-course, semester basis.

Candidates should hold a Master’s with 18 graduate hours in Astronomy or a Ph.D. in Astronomy, plus two years of teaching experience and online teaching ability.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.
• Two years teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with on-line teaching.
• Ph.D. in Astronomy.

Responsibilities

• Adjunct faculty may teach developmental and/or college-level courses, including distance-learning courses, during the day, evening, or weekends.
• Courses may be offered day, evening, weekend and at various PVCC locations; primarily face-to-face with potential remote instruction.
