• Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or Physics.
• 3–5 years hardware instrument engineering experience.
• Security clearance: ability to obtain U.S. government clearance (secret preferred).

• Applies technical knowledge to area of expertise and seeks new skills.
• Analyzes requirements and develops precision instruments with minimal guidance.
• Designs experiments and hardware to test viable concepts.
• Collaborates with engineers to develop prototype and production hardware.
• Integrates instruments into larger systems to meet performance metrics.
• Develops processes for fabrication of custom instruments.
• Presents technical results to management for approval.
• Provides training related to devices to staff and customers.
• Performs basic independent research and problem solving.
• Contributes content for reports and presentations with guidance.
