Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work or related license-eligible field or a doctoral degree in Psychology.
• Minimum of 2 years of counseling adolescents and families.
• 1 year of training/experience in treating problem sexual behaviour; preference for adolescents.
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Must hold one of the CT credentials: LMSW, LCSW, LMFTA, LMFT, LPCA, LPC or licensed/license-eligible Psychologist.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate referrals and maintain referral linkages with community sources.
• Conduct program-specific screening and evaluation and formulate DSM-based diagnoses.
• Develop individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with client/family.
• Provide family and/or individual counseling with supervision and coordinate treatment with other providers.
• Deliver direct case management/therapeutic services and develop case plans for each client and family.
• Triages clinical emergencies and follows safety and crisis protocols; after-hours on-call responsibilities.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other providers.
• Provide services in office and community settings, with possible client transport.

Position Summary

The Adolescent Sexual Treatment and Education Program (ASTEP) provides statewide, in‑home treatment and psychoeducation services for adolescents who have displayed inappropriate or harmful sexual behaviors which have resulted in court involvement.

We are looking for clinicians to provide individualized / family services to youth and adolescents with Problem Sexual Behaviors. Clinicians will provide psychoeducation, therapeutic sessions and case management services for youth and families. Services will be provided across the state.

Salary

$67,000

Education and Experience/Qualifications

Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work or related license eligible field or a doctoral degree in Psychology is required.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in counseling of adolescents and families is required, as well as 1 year training/experience in treating problem sexual behaviour required, preference in treating adolescents.

Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Provides coordination for referrals as well as establishes and maintains referral agreements and linkages with community referral sources or ancillary service provider.

Conducts program specific screening and evaluation, and formulates diagnosis in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM).

Develops and documents, clear clinical formulations and treatment plans that are individualized and measurable, developed in collaboration with the client/family and others as relevant.

Provides family and/or individual counselling to clients and their families with appropriate supervision and coordinates treatment phases both internally and with contracted or external service providers.

Provides direct case management/therapeutic services and develops case management/therapeutic plans specific to each assigned client and family, including interventions necessary to increase the probability of treatment completion, and to improve life functioning.

Triages clinical emergencies and implements programme specific safety and consultation protocols. Utilises best practices and evidenced based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and programme expectations. Provides/supports safety planning and crisis intervention with appropriate supervision and as defined by programme. Position requires after hours on‑call responsibilities.

Communicates in a positive, effective manner with client, family, and all internal and external providers.

Provides service in the office and/or community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, other community locations) as defined by the programme. May transport clients to appointments or linkages as appropriate.

Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by programme. Demonstrates knowledge of programme/department/agency goals and target outcomes, and adheres to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.

Administers standardised screening tools and collects data as defined by programme.

Documents all client related information in compliance with agency policy. Maintains records of therapeutic/case management activities for reporting and tracking purposes and completes all documentation for client medical records in accordance with documentation timelines and in compliance with Medicaid, licensing, and other.

Attends and is prepared for scheduled supervision and consultations. Seeks additional supervision or consultation as needed and follows through with supervisory directives.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
