Assumed Reinsurance Claims Analyst

United States – East Coast Preferred

We are a fast-growing global reinsurance speciality company servicing the insurance markets of Lloyd’s, Europe and North America.

Our AVP, Technical Claims Manager - Assumed is looking for an experienced Assumed Reinsurance Claims Analyst to handle complex assumed claims across various disciplines and territories in line with company claims handling guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively handle allocated claims to a high standard, including overall assessment of losses and reserves, and negotiation with counterparties to achieve timely settlements
  • Managing complex and disputed claims
  • Identify and report new trends or changes in the behavior of a claims portfolio
  • Act as main contact and account manager of all assumed claims made by assigned cedent
  • Review and analysis of treaties and evaluate coverage and all issues presented and prepare claim inquiries.
  • Conduct on-site and/or virtual claim audits of ceding companies
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for claims savings
  • Providing technical assistance for the due diligence process for new acquisitions, including the assessment of claims-related risks and opportunities
  • Understanding new accounts upon acquisition, delivering against opportunities identified in due diligence
  • Provide support for arbitration/litigation activity when required.
  • Identify potential coverage and cession issues.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of handling assumed claims and coverage experience preferred.
  • Experience with either asbestos, pollution and/or abuse claims would be highly desirable
  • Four-year college degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • High level of claims handling technical experience and knowledge, providing consistently high-quality claims handling.
  • Knowledge of key terms and conditions in contracts / policies and general knowledge of key legal positions in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience in negotiating complex issues with counterparties, resulting in successful settlements.
  • Understanding of data analysis and trends.
  • Embodiment of Compre’s Values and demonstration of Compre’s Commitment.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordination and collaboration with colleagues in other departments
  • Progressive and a flexible, open-minded approach to change.
  • Upholds confidentiality in relevant situations in respect to policy and role.
