Job Description

The assistant coach helps enhance the skills and abilities of the wrestlers. They will assist the head coach to guide student-athletes to follow the rules and regulations; and to encourage students to maintain academic eligibility. The person selected must agree to the district background check.

Jobs of Assistant Coach

Aid the players to develop their technical skills. Instill in the players the spirit of the game.
In association with the head coach, plan strategies and the game.
Equip the players in training drills during the practice sessions.
Will always be on the lookout of new talent and encourage the players to be on their best foot. Inculcate a team spirit among the players as well boost the confidence of the players.
Apart from the game duties, the assistant football coach will aid with the supervision of students during all aspects of the sport.
Encourage the players to come up with their weak areas and provide support helping to evolve.
Other responsibilities include to keep players abreast of their everyday progress, to always speak to develop the confidence of the players.
Follow local, state and national organization procedures, rules and guidelines.
Be present at practices, games and while traveling.

Skills of an Assistant Coach

Must maintain an image of a positive role model.
Good organizing skills to assist the head coach in making good game plans. Must possess mastery over the game, with relative experience and talent.
Significant motivational skills to encourage the players to play a free game.
The coach must have in-depth knowledge about the different strategies implemented to play the game. Must be physically as well as mentally strong.
Has acquired the skill to play in the spirit of the game. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Leadership qualities to coordinate the game under the direction of the head coach.
Must possess patience and have outstanding quality to perform under pressure, be an inspiration to the sportsperson to play in the spirit of the game.
Maintain a calm stance on losing the game without putting the blame or discouraging the players.

To be an assistant coach it is necessary to have a love for the game and commendable expertise in playing the game.

Requirements:

Complete clearance of background check.

Fundamentals of Coaching Course (online) passed prior to second year of coaching (one time requirement); Completion of a Sports First Aid Course prior to second year, CPR Certification (provided if hired), Concussion Sports Course, MSHSAA Sport-Specific Online Rules Review each season.

The main criteria would be to understand all-round nuances of the game, the strategy used in the name of the game, and experience required to encourage the team spirit amongst the student-athletes.

Reports to : the head coach, in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
