Job summary

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office in Rockford seeks an Assistant State’s Attorney – Criminal to join a fast-paced, justice-driven team. This full-time, exempt position offers opportunities to handle a range of criminal matters and gain substantial trial experience.

A law degree and Illinois bar license are required; prior experience is welcome but not necessary. In-person work is preferred, with flexibility for part-time or remote arrangements for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Must have a law degree and be licensed to practice law in Illinois.
• Previous experience is preferred but not required.
• In-person work is preferred; for the right candidate, part-time and/or remote arrangements may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Seek justice for crime victims and the people of our community; work in a collegial, supportive environment where every door is always open; gain un-paralleled trial experience.
• Under general supervision, performs professional legal work within the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office in units including Misdemeanor, DUI, Traffic, Juvenile, Domestic Violence, Drug Unit and Felony.

Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent
