The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks an organized and detail-oriented professional to serve as Assistant Reimbursement Officer. Under supervision, you will handle reimbursement duties, analyze daily transactions, and research discrepancies in board payments for relative and traditional children.

This is a full-time, in-office position with union protections. You will investigate payment amounts, review multiple reports, and ensure compliance with DCFS rules.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with accounting and office procedures coursework.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience, preferably in bookkeeping or office operations.
  • Knowledge of basic reimbursement processes and report review is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Assistant Reimbursement Officer for payment determination and reconciliation.
  • Review reports from TSU and pull identified Social Security Cards as needed.
  • Act as timekeeper and contact for unit equipment issues.
  • Process Emergency Assistance Program applications and prepare related documents.
  • Assist with court order processes by retrieving and printing orders for staff.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the job duties and qualifications.

Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Assistant Reimbursement Officer for Payment Determination and Reconciliation. Under general supervision, this position will perform a variety of paraprofessional reimbursement duties involved in the maintenance of the complex board payment system for the Department. The position will investigate and evaluate DCFS payment amounts from various reports, in compliance with rules established by the Department. This position will also independently research and analyze discrepancies in daily transactions and analyze field and provider inquiries related to eligible board payments for relative/traditional children. This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who is interested in playing a role in the reimbursement process for the Department of Children and Family Services. Essential Functions
  • Serves as Assistant Reimbursement Officer
  • Completes reports from Technical Support Unit (TSU) by reviewing the provided reports and pulling identified Social Security Cards
  • As assigned, serves as timekeeper
  • Serves as contact person for unit equipment issues
  • Processess all Emergency Assistance Program (EAP) initial and subsequent intact family applications
  • Provides assistance in the court order process by retrieving documents from the court order mailbox and printingall orders to prepare for the support staff/Eligibility Determination Unit applications process.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumeratedabove.
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school, preferably with courses inaccounting and office procedures.
  • Requires one year of work experience, preferably with emphasis in bookkeeping/accounting and office operations.
