Position Goal

To perform semi-skilled work, under the supervision of the head facilities serviceperson, in supervising and participating in the cleaning program to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, appearance, and safety of facilities, including operating mechanical systems responsibly and accurately.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

• Review work performed by Facilities Serviceperson and other team members.
• Instruct staff in proper use of supplies, equipment, chemicals, ladders, and safety procedures.
• Perform duties of Facilities Serviceperson.
• Operate boilers, air conditioning, and power systems.
• Change light bulbs and perform minor repairs as directed.
• Ensure school security before departure.
• Communicate supply needs and report mechanical or structural issues.
• Perform duties as Head Facilities Serviceperson during absences.
• Practice safety and participate in training programs.
• Complete projects accurately, record time and materials used.
• Perform physical tasks such as climbing and lifting up to 55 pounds.
• Stay updated with current industry developments.
• Adhere to safety procedures, laws, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of facility-related experience.
• Ability to follow custodial practices and act as Head Custodian in absence.
• Ability to plan, direct work, and use cleaning equipment properly.
• Knowledge of energy conservation.
• Physical ability to climb, operate heavy equipment, and work from ladders.
• Completion of professional training programs as required.
• Computer skills relevant to the role.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Bilingual skills preferred.

Physical Requirements

Heavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds as needed.
