About the Analytical & Data Services Team

This team provides integrated data and analytical services based on RMS’s catastrophe models, trusted by global insurance and reinsurance clients for underwriting, portfolio management, and risk transfer decisions. They analyze exposure data from major Fortune 500 accounts, assessing data quality, client exposure to catastrophic events, and providing insights into loss drivers using RMS models. Team analysts specialize in data interpretation, analytics, quality, financial policies, and catastrophe models for perils such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and terrorism.

Role Overview: Assistant Director - Risk Management

This role involves leading client-facing risk analytics projects, including scoping, report design, data preparation, modeling, and presenting results. Experience in leading data preparation teams is advantageous. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills, work effectively in a global, matrix environment, and possess strong problem-solving abilities. The role also involves mentoring team members and enhancing technical and business understanding across the team.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
  • Deep knowledge of RMS models, including methodology and schema
  • Hands-on experience in account modeling, portfolio/cedant analysis, and exposure data enrichment
  • Providing high-quality exposure and loss analysis to support swift business decisions
  • Assessing and improving data quality, highlighting data fallacies and impacts
  • Documenting project processes, decisions, and exceptions
  • Driving process improvements for efficiency and utility
  • Ensuring compliance with processes, guidelines, and SOPs
  • Managing client escalations proactively
  • Implementing efficiency enhancements through process reengineering or automation
  • Grooming high-performing team members and process champions
  • Supporting client onboarding from transition to business-as-usual
  • Collaborating with RMS teams on client engagements
  • Assisting with new service line development
Skills Needed

Minimum Requirements
  • B.E / B. Tech from reputed universities/colleges
  • Alternatively, an MBA in Finance, Insurance, Operations Research, or a master's in Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics from top-tier universities
  • 8+ years of experience in risk/business/data analytics within P&C insurance, reinsurance, or insurance-linked securities
  • Experience in mathematical or statistical applications for R&D, model development, or solutions design
  • Extensive experience with catastrophe risk models
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of R, Python, and Power BI
