Job summary

Gilbane is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to on-site supervise trade contractors on projects valued up to $30M. The role is hands-on daily on the job site, coordinating with the project team to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

The ideal candidate will have a 4–8 year track record in commercial/industrial construction, OSHA 30, and strong leadership abilities to mentor field staff while delivering results for a diverse range of clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 4–8 years of superintendent experience on $15–$30M projects or larger.
• OSHA 30-hour certified.
• STS-C Certification.
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience allowed.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day coordination of trade partners and sub-contractors to meet project schedule.

Responsibilities

• Directs the day-to-day coordination of Gilbane’s trade partners and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
• Develops, documents, and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the field
• Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents in order to proactively anticipate potential problems
• Participates in constructability review and identifies change impacts
• Obtains or verifies that subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
• Acts as primary safety representative in the field
• Establishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
• Leads contractor meetings on a regular basis
• Maintains daily reports and documentation using software tools
• Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessary
• Communicates schedule status, updates and changes to project team and trade contractors
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics
• Oversees project quality plan, completes inspections, and implements necessary changes
• Communicates with Site Services/Next 150 to order materials and schedule crew
• Coaches and mentors less Field Engineers on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen
• Understands scopes of work; assists in writing scopes of work and participates in buyout
• Assists in Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
• Leads stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plan reviews
• Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
• May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• 4-8 years of experience on $15-$30 million or larger commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role
• OSHA 30-hour certified
• STS-C Certification
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
