Overview

The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Coach for Women’s Basketball.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Assists in the coordination of a Women’s Basketball Intercollegiate Athletics Program which provides opportunity for female student-athletes to train and compete in a competitive, Division I women’s basketball program while attending school to earn a college degree.
  • A valid driver’s license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules relative to recruiting, and knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to proper rules of play in the sport of women’s basketball.
  • Good organizational skills,
  • Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, parents and the media, computer literacy (particularly with MS Office & Synergy).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Collegiate basketball coaching and playing experience.
  • Experience with recruiting and thorough familiarity with outstanding players around the country, specifically with top 100 women’s basketball players in the country.
  • Experience with running summer camps.
  • Experience with using video software system’s to game plan for practice and competition.
  • Proficiency with a computer ( MAC and/or PC), iPad, email, fax, copier, editing equipment involved with video software Synergy and compliance/recruiting database Jump Forward.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Nights and weekends will be required.

  • Clean Driving Record.
