Job summary

The Hematologist/Oncologist will join TTUHSC in Lubbock at the new 124,000 sq ft comprehensive academic cancer center that opened April 20, 2026. The center offers advanced radiation oncology, infusion and chemotherapy, outpatient adult and pediatric clinics, two pharmacies, dedicated research space and clinical trials (Phase I-III), plus integrative medicine services.

Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent required.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Medical License.
• Foreign Medical Graduates: ECFMG Certification or Equivalency Certification.
• Board Eligible in Hematology or Oncology, or completing an ABMS-accredited Fellowship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical exams and review/interpret labs and tests.
• Develop and manage treatment regimens including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
• Communicate diagnoses and options with patients and families.
• Perform specialty procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team.
• Provide patient care with regular clinic days and volume targets.
• Participate in training/mentoring of students, residents and fellows.

The Hematologist/Oncologist will work in UMC’s new 124,000 sq. ft. comprehensive academic cancer center, which opened on April 20th, 2026. The center features:

Major/Essential Functions

• Conduct comprehensive physical exams with review of medica history and review/interpretation of lab and diagnostic testing.
• Develop and manage customized treatment regiments inclusive of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive care.
• Communicate with patients and family members regarding diagnoses, testing and treatment options;
• Perform specialty specific procedures as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with additional members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Provide patient care a minimum of 8 half days with an expected patient volume of 10-12 patients per half day.
• Participate in the training and mentoring of medical students, residents and fellows.

Required Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Medical License.
• Foreign Medical Graduates Only: ECFMG Certification OR Equivalency Certification.
• Board Eligible in Hematology, or in the process of completing an ACGME accredited Hematology Fellowship, OR Board Eligible in Oncology, or in the process of completing an ACGME accredited Oncology Fellowship.
