Overview

The Assistant 6 Hour, Student Nutrition follows all Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Student Nutrition Services (SNS) guidelines. The Assistant 6 Hour, Student Nutrition performs manual work in the preparation, serving and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods to students and staff, under immediate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, cooks and serves all food items, including hot and cold items, ensuring correct portion sizes and replenishing the serving line.
• Takes and records food temperatures during preparation and serving; follows procedures for corrective action if temperatures are not within established safe zones.
• Sets up a serving line for meals, obtains correct paper products and utensils, and displays foods attractively.
• Provides friendly and respectful customer service, acknowledges students by name, thanks students for their business, maintains a neat serving area, and encourages healthy food choices.
• Enters meal components correctly, documents emergency meal transactions, handles cash and checks accurately, checks alerts for special diets, and follows end-of-day cash control procedures.
• Receives and checks in food, checks out for production, and organizes storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Maintains accountability of the program, including compliance with federal, state, and local rules, and documents production records, HACCP, meal accountability, and cash procedures in accordance with district policies.
• Ensures serving line is clean, stores all food and supplies properly, and assists with kitchen, dish area, and storage area cleanup.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
