Job description

Overview

Join our team as an Associate Web Developer. You will support the design, development, and maintenance of web-based and cloud applications within an Agile development environment. This position reports to our home office in Columbia, MO and offers the opportunity to work fully remote or participate in our hybrid work program.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the development team to design, develop, and maintain web applications using Node.js, React, and Java.
  • Assist in the implementation and integration of RESTful APIs, microservices, and third‑party services.
  • Learn and contribute to the optimization of database structures and queries using AWS DynamoDB or similar NoSQL databases.
  • Gain exposure to AWS Lambda functions for serverless architecture and event‑driven programming.
  • Contribute to automated testing and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes to ensure software quality and deployment efficiency.
  • Work with configuration, customization, system integration, design, and development of Gosu and/or Jutro coding in the Guidewire Cloud environment.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Guidewire Cloud and external systems using APIs and/or web services.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and debugging activities under the guidance of senior developers.
  • Map data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics to ensure data quality within the data warehouse.
  • Identify and resolve database and data structure issues within the data warehouse.
  • Address data‑related problems regarding system integration, compatibility, and cross‑platform integration within the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with team members to adhere to coding standards, best practices, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Stay current with Guidewire Cloud updates, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of web development concepts and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and basic collaborative development workflows.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative development environment.
  • Ability to become certified (or currently certified and up to date) as an Associate InsuranceSuite Developer on the Guidewire insurance cloud platform within six months; continued certification (Professional / ACE) may be required at a later date.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Java programming language and related frameworks.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, particularly DynamoDB and Lambda.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Familiarity with GOSU, Jutro, XML, and SQL.
  • Understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies or data integration concepts.

Salary and Additional Compensation

The typical starting salary for this position is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, acquired skills, experience, education, and certifications/designations. This position may be eligible for annual merit increases and participation in our bonus program.
