Qualifications

  • Experience developing utility-scale renewable energy projects in the US.
  • Experience with site control, permitting, interconnection and commercial milestones.
  • Experience with utility RFPs, power marketing, PPAs or other offtake arrangements.
  • Demonstrated leadership or team-management experience.
  • Degree in engineering, finance, economics, business or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple utility-scale renewable energy projects across the development lifecycle.
  • Advance site control, permitting, interconnection, budgets and milestones.
  • Lead utility RFP responses and support power-marketing and offtake activities.
  • Lead and support the negotiation of PPAs and other commercial agreements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, project finance and legal teams.
  • Manage external consultants, landowners, utilities, local officials and development partners.
  • Support acquisitions, joint ventures and project due diligence.
  • Assess project economics, development risks and investment opportunities.
  • Present project updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Identify new markets, projects and potential development partners.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the development team.

Job description

We are supporting an established renewable energy owner and developer looking to appoint an AVP, Renewable Energy Development to its San Diego team.

This is a senior, commercially focused position responsible for managing multiple utility-scale wind, solar and energy-storage projects at different stages of development. The successful candidate will lead projects across the development lifecycle while supporting new development, acquisition and partnership opportunities.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage multiple utility-scale renewable energy projects across the development lifecycle
  • Advance site control, permitting, interconnection, budgets, schedules and key development milestones
  • Lead utility RFP responses and support power-marketing and offtake activities
  • Lead and support the negotiation of PPAs and other commercial agreements

  • Hands-on experience across site control, permitting, interconnection and commercial milestones
  • Experience with utility RFPs, power marketing, PPAs or other offtake arrangements
  • Good understanding of project economics, development risk and investment decisions
  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of US power markets and utility interconnection processes
  • Previous leadership or team-management experience
  • Degree in engineering, finance, economics, business or a related discipline
