Job summary

Oregon State University seeks an Associate Vice President for Facilities and Infrastructure to provide strategic leadership across capital planning, design and construction, and campus operations for the Corvallis campus.

Reporting to the VP of Finance & Administration, this role oversees a broad portfolio of facilities, utilities, and space strategy, guiding a large, multidisciplinary team toward service excellence and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, facilities management, planning, architecture, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities, capital planning, or infrastructure management.
  • Proven success leading large-scale capital programs, facilities operations, and multidisciplinary teams with financial acumen.
  • Visible, communicative leader able to build relationships with executives, boards, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of a long-range capital and infrastructure strategy aligned with institutional priorities, financial sustainability, and research competitiveness.
  • Oversee full lifecycle delivery of a complex capital portfolio spanning academic, research, student success, utility, housing, and athletics facilities.
  • Provide senior leadership for facilities operations, maintenance, utilities, grounds, and campus services, advancing a modern, service-oriented, data-informed organization.
  • Oversee campus master planning, land use strategy, space planning, and strategic real estate acquisition, disposition, and development.
  • Partner with academic and research leadership to support a top-tier R1 research enterprise, including resilience planning for seismic risk, climate adaptation, and energy security.
  • Provide enterprise-wide financial stewardship, including capital financing strategy, debt capacity planning, and legislative capital requests.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a large, multidisciplinary workforce, building a culture of accountability, inclusion, safety, and service excellence.

Job description

Associate Vice President for Facilities and Infrastructure

Oregon State University (OSU) – the state's largest public research university and a top-tier R1, land, sea, space, and sun grant institution – seeks an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President (AVP) for Facilities and Infrastructure. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Administration & CFO, the AVP serves as OSU\'s Chief Facilities Officer, providing strategic leadership for capital planning, design and construction, campus and land use planning, operations and maintenance, utilities and energy, space strategy, sustainability, and real estate across a Corvallis campus of 150+ buildings on 560 acres (5.7M gross square feet), including 83 buildings in the OSU National Historic District.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering, construction management, facilities management, planning, architecture, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities, capital planning, or infrastructure management in a large, complex organization
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale capital programs, facilities operations, and multidisciplinary teams, with strong financial and operational acumen
  • A visible, communicative leadership style, with demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across executive leadership, governing boards, and campus and community stakeholders

The expected hiring range for this position is $240,000-$290,000. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
