The IU Fort Wayne campus seeks qualified candidates for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of Students.

The Associate Vice Chancellor engages collaboratively with deans and colleagues at Indiana University Indianapolis-based schools, Purdue Fort Wayne Colleges and Schools, Purdue Fort Wayne Cabinet members (particularly the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Experiences), as well as leaders of PFW shared services and the IU Fort Wayne campus. The role involves developing policies and programs to engage and support campus constituents and directly influencing campus functions and operations.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Leading the Office of General and Exploratory Studies to maximize success and outcomes for pre-major or first-year students, including oversight of orientation, first-year seminars, pre-major advising, exploratory students, and engagement with Purdue Fort Wayne Academic Affairs regarding general education courses and student success.
  2. Fostering faculty shared governance and engagement on the Fort Wayne campus through regular meetings, ensuring alignment of academic policies with Indianapolis entities, and attending Indianapolis Faculty Council meetings via distance technology.
  3. Creating a campus climate where every student feels valued and engaged, supporting co-curricular programming, advising, career planning, recognition, and graduation ceremonies in collaboration with campus partners.
  4. Guiding IU Fort Wayne academic program leaders to develop or modify curricula to meet accreditation standards, address professional changes, and prepare graduates for success.
  5. Interfacing with IU Indianapolis and Purdue Fort Wayne student life leadership on student conduct, serving as a Title IX deputy, and promoting a growth mindset in policies.
  6. Collaborating with academic leaders to establish development and orientation programs, leveraging relationships to support teaching, research, and service excellence.
  7. Expanding partnerships with P-12 schools, IVY Tech, and regional organizations like Junior Achievement and Boys and Girls Clubs to foster career pathways.
  8. Monitoring campus outcomes related to retention, progression, and graduation, leading efforts to implement high-impact educational practices and improve degree attainment.
