Associate veterinarian wanted for a rapidly growing 5-doctor mixed animal practice. Mixed animal veterinarian preferred, but a small animal veterinarian would be considered. The practice is located in eastern NC, approximately 30 minutes east of Raleigh and an hour from Wilmington beaches.
Practice Details
- The practice comprises 50% small animal and 50% large animal.
- The large animal side mainly focuses on equine, including western sport horses and leisure trail riding, with some cows, goats, and pigs.
- The small animal side is expanding rapidly, emphasizing preventative medicine and wellness, with routine surgeries performed in-house.
- Recent small animal expansion (2000 sq ft) includes laparoscopic and orthopedic surgery capabilities.
- An equine surgery center equipped with gas anesthesia handles routine surgeries; approximately 60 mares are bred annually using cooled or frozen semen.
Work Schedule & Responsibilities
- The associate would spend 2 weeks on small animal duties with a 4-day workweek, followed by 2 weeks on large animal duties with a 5-day workweek.
- Large animal emergencies are shared on a rotation, approximately once every 4 weeks.
- Time is evenly split between large and small animal appointments.
- Emergency call for large animals occurs once every 4 weeks.
- Candidate must hold a current veterinary license.
- A small animal veterinary position is also available.
